Giving Thanks

We've been  home one month and we are amazed with how well little Nico is doing! He has seen so many new faces these past few weeks and has taken it like a champ! We've enjoyed seeing how fond he has become of his new family members--grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles. The Lord has been so gracious during this adjustment time and we are praying that Nico continues to feel more and more comfortable with us as we love and care for him.

We're loving the little personality that is just beaming from him right now. He is definitely a joker and is becoming more and more comfortable being silly as his language develops. Many people in Uganda would tell us how funny and imaginative he was. Now it's fun to see that part of him come out in English more and more each day! (or in more "non-verbal ways.... :)

We are so thankful with how comfortable he seems to be here at home...like he's always been here!!

And he continues to rock our faces off (mine, Jo's, especially) with how well he eats. Besides cheese (crazy, right??), there isn't anything he won't eat! In fact, he has quite a one-track mind right now...

And speaking of food...
Nico's first Thanksgiving Dinner. Anyone surprised he asked for more after this? :)

Nico had such a great time meeting all of the grandparents last month! After a few minutes of warming up with them he couldn't get enough of them! This was so wonderful for all of us.
Again, God is gracious!

Thank you to all of you who have helped ease our transition back home this past month. We are having such a fun time with this little guy! Please continue to pray for us as we focus more on language development for Nico. He is learning SO fast which has been a remarkable thing to see. But there are still times when communicating certain concepts is really difficult. Pray for our patience and that we would be effective in the way we teach him.

Here's a video of one of the funniest things that have happened since we've been home.
(That we've caught on video at least!)

The story is, we were outdoors and Nico was away from a bathroom when he frantically said "Soo-soo!!" which means "Bathroom! Quick!" So Clint found some bushes for him (which was totally natural, of course, since in Uganda they use a "bath-bush" instead of a bathroom :). Unfortunately Nico had a little "spill" on his pants...but apparently he knew the best way to take care of that when you're in a bind!
