Since Nico is used to being around a lot of children I was anxious to get him involved with some kids asap. Before getting home we had introduced him (through picture) to our friends' little girl, Nellie. She's almost the same age as him and has been anticipating his arrival. :) Here they are at the airport becoming friends at first sight. Can't you tell? (Pay no attention to Clint forcing a hug...)
Nico also had his first "playdate" earlier this week with Nellie, too. Her costume bday party was happening the same night so we wanted to see if Nico was at all interested in that. Without much hesitation he snatched up this penguin costume...
...and was super stoked to wear it...all day.
Off to the birthday party we went!

Princess and Penguin tea party. Anything's possible, folks.
First Halloween and First Birthday Party: check! :)
The Lord knew Nico belonged with us. He's a mini-Clint for sure.
We took a trip to the neighborhood park this weekend. The sun was shining and lots of kids were out enjoying the beautiful fall weather!
He would probably do this for hours if he could...
Apparently there are a lot of ways to have fun with a picnic bag
Even after a busy first week, Nico made a visit to the dentist. Probably not something kids look forward to...but he took it like a champ. Unfortunately he's going to need some work! Broken tooth on one side that has been causing him some pain and a badly decayed tooth on the other side. Both of those will have to get pulled! :( And then a few cavities will need to be filled. Thankful to have dental insurance at a time like this!
Thanks to everyone who has been checking in on us, bringing us meals, and simply offering support. Please continue to pray for Nico's transition. Even though he's adjusting well overall there are still some difficult moments. And addressing his heart and his behavior can be pretty tricky without a common language! Pray for our patience with him and with each other as his parents.
We are so thankful for all of you.
Love from the Moores and the Mayende :)
